Before You Begin:General Chemistry is the title of a first year inorganic chemistry class that many US colleges and universities offer for science and chemistry majors. This is a collapsible list of the material covered in a typical General Chemistry course, though the order will vary. Click on a broad topic to see the details (click again to hide the details since this is a very long outline). When you find the specific topic you need, follow the link to read a short explanation, see an example, and work a sample problem for that topic. More detailed discussions of some of these ideas can be found in the Chemistry Web Book.
