Carbon is the fifteenth most abundant element in the earth's crust in the form of carbonate minerals and fossil fuels. There are three crystalline allotropes of carbon: diamond, graphite, and fullerenes. This picture shows a sheet of graphite. Joseph bought this sample from the Red, Green, and Blue Company.
